Lexus Launches the J201 Concept

Built on the LX 570 Platform, the Lexus J201 Concept is built for outdoor adventures.

Lexus has teamed up with the experts at Expedition Overland, to release the J201 Concept. The trail-hungry, adventure-ready vehicle is built on the flagship LX 570 platform and is heavily equipped to tackle any terrain it encounters.

The bold concept combines the luxury and comfort that the marque is known for with a host of performance enhancements incorporated into the vehicle, adding to its on- and off-road capability.

The four-wheel-drive vehicle was built to explore and is well-equipped to handle any challenge. A Magnuson Supercharger boosts the performance of the 5.7L V8 with 550-hp and 550 lb-ft of torque.

Armored Up

For protection through rough trails, the Lexus J201 Concept is fully armored. CBI Offroad has outfitted the big-bodied SUV with a front and rear bumper system, rock sliders and skid plates. A Warn Industries Zeon 10-S winch was added to the front bumper to aid with recovery, while a pair of Scepter 5-gallon water cans are incorporated on the rear bumper system.

Two Sceptor 5-gallon water cans fit perfectly in the CBI Offroad accessory mount on the rear bumper.
The Lexus J201 Concept sports a WARN Zeon 10-S winch and Rigid Industries lights in the CBI Offroad bumper.

The Lexus J201 Concept’s suspension wasn’t ignored, and an Icon Vehicle Dynamics system provides ample clearance for the 17×8 EVO Corse DakarZero Wheels wrapped in 33-inch General Grabber X3 Tires. Hiding behind the wheels is a StopTech big brake kit that adds much needed stopping power. The addition of front and rear 4.30 Nitro Gears and ARB Air Lockers help to improve the performance, economy, and durability of the beefy SUV.

The EVO Corse DakarZero wheels wrapped in General Grabber X3 tires give the off-road vehicle a clean, yet functional, look.

Off-Road Enhancements

Aiding to provide additional visibility in the dark or through the dust are a host of RIGID Industries lights that include a 40-inch Midnight edition SR-Series Pro light bar on the Prinsu roof rack and 30-inch RDS SR-Series Pro light bar integrated into the front bumper.

The J201 concept has taken various situations into consideration by outfitting the SUV with a TJM Airtec Snorkel for any potential water crossing and an ARB Twin on-board compressor with a Slee Off-Road compressor mount system for the ability to air up after hitting the trails. The compressor, air lockers, and lighting are controlled by an ARB LINX Accessory Interface found inside the cabin for convenient control of the accessories.

Storage Solutions

Long distance travel often requires enough gear and supplies to last for the length of the excursion. The concept is properly outfitted to maximize the space for storing everything to ensure everything is readily accessible and in its right place.  Helping with the organization and storage is a Goose Gear Drawer Module that hosts a WARN Epic recovery kit. A Prinsu Design roof rack system provides MAXTRAX storage in a low profile design.  Of course, no trip would be complete without luggage, and Lexus collaborated with Zero Halliburton to include Pursuit aluminum travel cases.
