Surely you don’t want to get stuck making the same meals over and over again. Try something new! You won’t regret the return of investment from smiles, requests for seconds and full stomachs.
Campfire Pizza
This can be prepared on a skillet over your campfire. All you need is dough, sauce, cheese and toppings of your choice to cook this camp-friendly dish. You can prepare the store-bought dough before you leave or as a group activity at the site. Surefire hit with the kiddos, too!

S’mores Granola
Instead of graham crackers, try using granola as your base for this delicious treat. Place some mini-marshmallows and chocolate bits for a mouth-melting dessert or snack.
Hot Ham & Pineapple Campfire Sandwiches
Ham and pineapple will make a good mix on your next outdoor adventure. This is an easy-prep meal as you can cook the ham in foil over a campfire. Add a layer of pineapple on top of your hot ham on a roll or bun — you will not regret it.
Walking Tacos
This is something you can eat while moving — hence the name. It’s almost like a portable taco salad that you eat out of a bag of chips, the most common being Doritos or Fritos. Customize with any veggies or other ingredients you want to throw in the bag and enjoy.
Camping Mac n’ Cheese
You can pre-make some macaroni to later heat up in aluminum pie tins. Feel free to make this dish your own with ingredients such as bacon bits, extra cheese, chopped veggies and more.
Campfire Breadsticks
Collect some store-bought dough and find a good stick to wrap it around. Heat the dough over the campfire until it cooks into bread and don’t be afraid to melt some cheese on there with it.
Spinach Dip
Pack some tortilla chips and some pre-made dip. Heat the dip in some foil over your campfire and you will have a quick snack in minutes. You can also use the dip with bread.
Bacon (Rolls)
If you are a real bacon lover, what is stopping you from putting bacon on a stick and heating it over your campfire? You can eat it straight from the stick or place the cooked bacon on a bun or roll and enjoy.
Apple Crisp
Pack some apples and granola before your trip and throw them on a skillet over a fire. This is a nice warm snack for those who may be in cooler elements. Some places are still dealing with snow in July!
Ranch n’ Bacon Potatoes
Prepare some sliced, chip-style potatoes and heat them in foil over a fire. Add some pre-cooked bacon bits and ranch for maximum flavor.
While these are just some of many camp-friendly food ideas for you and your campmates to enjoy, the possibilities are boundless. Wherever your travels take you, eat well this holiday and beyond!
