The Ultimate Dual-Purpose Build: Corey Stenlake’s Custom Ram 1500

Corey Stenlake’s 5th-Gen Ram

Mean looks? Check. Horsepower? Check. Overlanding capabilities? Also check! There is nothing from the front to back or top to bottom that hasn’t been touched or thought about when building this bad machine! This is Corey Stenlake’s 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 shining bright in White Knuckle W12 paint with beautiful black and strong orange accents showing off the small details over and under this truck. Alright, let’s dive into this build and look at the details of this creation.

Starting in the front, you may notice it’s running a 2022 Ram facelift with an OEM grille and OEM headlights, but don’t worry about it losing its way in the dark! This truck has seventeen Baja Design lights from bumper to bumper in all the places you can think of, including the grille, the front and rear bumpers, inside the bed, inside the wheel wells, and on top of the roof! There’s no shortness of illumination while driving on and off the trails. Keeping those lights tucked away and protected, Corey’s Ram is outfitted with Bulken Off-Road front and rear bumpers for maximum protection from all elements and dangers to the body.

Pushing this big rig around is the world-renowned 5.7L Hemi, that has been equipped with a Carven TR-Series exhaust with a 3-inch rear tip that creates a sound no truck guy could hate. Helping keep that big Hemi breathing strong is a K&N NextGen cold air intake. Shifting flawlessly and smoothly is the 8-speed TorqueFlite 3.92 transmission. Things are starting off strong with this truck, but there’s still so much to cover!

Let’s take a look up high at the RS2 rooftop tent by Roofspace and the brackets all around for the ultimate comfort and space for when Corey is ready to lay his head down after a long day of traveling into the unknown. In the back bed of this truck, Corey has installed an EZ Flate M.O.A.B. Auto Air with HyperFlex hoses to adjust the air pressure of the big tires underneath this rig. For those worst-case scenarios, this Ram is also equipped with a 2-ton Pro Eagle jack nicknamed “The Beast” along with an extension to hike this truck up enough to easily replace a wheel and tire.

With all this extra weight and attachments to the truck, it must have a solid suspension to hold it up, right? Right! This Ram boasts a combination of BDS and Fox components to create the ultimate suspension system with 6 inches of lift in the front and 3 in the rear. For the front springs, Corey chose Eibach 16-3.0-600 units with Fox 2.5 Performance Elite shocks with DSC. The rear springs are 3.5-inch Jeep Gladiator springs. Yes, there are Jeep parts on this Ram for all the Jeep junkies out there, along with matching rear Fox 2.5 Performance Elite shocks with DSC. The links to this truck aren’t stock though. This animal has a Core 4×4 Race Series 5-link kit and upper control arms with heims to ensure strength when handling the harsh terrains. To keep the Ram from bottoming out in the rear, it’s running Perry Parts bump stops and is equipped with Suspension Maxx front sway bar links as well as a Hellwig rear sway bar.

Other than this truck’s unique suspension setup, let’s run down a little lower and take a look at the wheel and tire combo on this beautiful machine. Corey is running Toyo Open Country MTs —a proven tire in the off-road world that gives you all the wants and needs a tire can provide. Wrapped inside the Toyo rubber is a set of Method 304 wheels that are praised by racers and off-road hobbyists in the sport of non-pavement travel. It’s always reassuring to have confidence in your wheel and tire selection when taking on unpredictable terrain.

Although the Ram is still outfitted with stock seating, it has been upgraded with custom black and orange Katzkin leather and suede covers for a clean, comfortable, and tasteful look. But not only have the seats been treated to new skins, but the interior also got new trim, a suede-wrapped center dash, fresh door inserts, an sPOD with SKT center console mount, and amber LED lighting that wraps this entire interior, creating a true work of art.

2019 Dodge Ram 1500

No corners were cut during the process of this build. If you’re looking for raw power, clean looks, a mean stare, and that true “wow” factor, this is the perfect truck to follow. There isn’t anything short of greatness when it comes to this build and its unique features all around. We thank Corey for allowing us to share his build and the hard work he has put into his Ram 1500. We will be following closely with Corey to see what he may be up to in the future!
