Morimoto XB LED Headlights

The days of retrofitting headlights with projectors and HID kits are coming to a close, with Morimoto’s new XB LED housings. These are full LED replacement housings, built to meet or exceed OEM fit and finish, and boy do they.

We were lucky enough to get our hands on a set for late model Ram trucks, and boy are we impressed. Featuring IP67 water and dust intrusion rating, and a DOT/ECE certification, these plug and play housings are no joke. For the Ram housings, dual Bi-Kuria projectors, illuminated by proprietary chipsets developed by OSRAM, they have an output rating of 2900 lumens individually and a color range of 5000 kelvin. That means that each housing has an output of nearly 6000 lumens. Other models in their product line intended for F-series trucks have quad Kuria projectors for even more light.

The housing itself is made from injected molded UV-resistant polycarbonate, giving it a long life outdoors. All connections are weather-sealed Deutsch and Weatherpak connectors, specific to the maker of vehicle. Daytime running lamps and sequential turn signals are standard, and really make the piano black housings pop.

Not only do these look good from the outside, their performance is truly something remarkable, totally outclassing many luxury high-end OEM projectors. How good could they possibly be? Let’s just say they have a higher output, with a better cutoff than Ford’s factory LED housings for the F-series trucks, AND they are backed by a five-year warranty.

While these housings are a substantial investment of cash, they have been bar none one of the best modifications we have ever done to a vehicle in terms of usability and utility. Get yours at a discount directly from Morimoto’s XB LED headlights U.S. partner, The Retrofit Source.
