An Off-Road Rebuild Masterpiece: Inside Stoffregen Motorsports’ Toyota BJ74 Transformation

Every now and then you come across the Holy Grail of build threads on a web forum. You know the one, the perfect build thread that has equal parts good conversation, tech and photos. Well, we have done the legwork for you and found one of the best rebuilds on the interwebs. Stoffregen Motorsports of Cool, California, is renowned in the off-road world for meticulous—albeit lengthy—builds that cover fine details all the way down to type and grade of bolt being used. This particular build thread covers a Toyota BJ74 that has been stripped down to the frame, axle swapped, and turned into what would be considered a perfect modern interpretation of a classic design.
