AWDROLA: Changing the Off Road Race Game
You may have heard of the AWDROLA (pronounced "Odd-Rolla"). If you haven't, here's a quick version of the story: a rendering of a Corolla AE86 by @stevo.form that circulated around Instagram came across KC HiLiTes Marketing Activation Manager Randy Wimenta's feed way back in 2020, and, long story short, a couple of years and a ton of elbow grease later, we have the AWDROLA. The rig we see rolling out in the desert today is a true Frankenstein, with the body of a Corolla, the 4ASV transaxle and transfer case of a 1989 All-Trac wagon, and the suspension of a 1999 Rav4. TREAD was one of the few select U.S. media outlets in attendance; our wave included journalists from North America and the Middle East.
The moment one looks over the edge and out to the horizon at the Grand Canyon is always an emotional one, whether it’s the first time or the tenth. However, looking over the edge and out to the distance from the North Rim away from all structures and people is both centering and life-changing. Immediately one understands why the Grand Canyon is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and why it’s the ultimate overlanding destination.
Aside from the campfire, the camp kitchen is often the other major center of activity at any given campsite. The preparation of food and the wonderful smells that cooking produces usually draw a hungry crowd, after all. For these and many other reasons, camp kitchens are fun to use and easy to enjoy. Assembling a useful, yet compact camp kitchen, however, can be a challenge. That’s where the iKamper Aioks comes in.
