A brand you already trust to take you to your desired destination has come out with a new product to help you adventure into areas less traveled. Garmin, a pioneer in the GPS navigation and wireless device market, released the Overlander all-terrain navigator for those who push the boundaries a bit more and journey down paths unknown. Adventure travelers now have the capability to have more at their fingertips when they are off the grid, thanks to the Garmin Overlander.

The all-in-one GPS navigator is specifically designed to fit the needs of the growing overlanding community. It will take you down the roads of suburbia and into the more remote regions of your favorite place to escape in the outdoors, whether that’s in high mountain elevation or on desert trails. Through spoken, on-road, turn-by-turn directions or and built-in topography maps to help you learn the lay of the land while off-road, adventurers can meet their friends, find a campsite for the night or start their 2-week journey through the Rockies. The Overlander provides users with off-grid guidance covering public land boundaries, waterways, trails, and 4×4 roads for North and South America and much more.

“We are really proud to offer the first and only all-in-one solution for Overlanding. This one device has on-road and off-road mapping options, plus it comes preloaded with content for finding campsites and interesting spots when you’re off the grid.” said Dan Bartel, Garmin worldwide vice president of consumer sales.

It’s worth noting, this is not a simple tablet housed in a rugged case. Garmin actually built this device from the ground up, with true expeditioners in mind. This device was designed to endure the grit of the great outdoors, thanks to the IP5X dust rating, and has the ability to withstand vibration and extreme temperatures. Integrated pitch and roll gauges help you and your vehicle navigate difficult terrain, while the built-in GPS, GLONASS and Galileo support helps track in more challenging environments than GPS alone. Easily mounted with the powered magnetic-mount system with suction cup and a RAM compatible adapter, the 7-inch color screen can be seen from anywhere in the cockpit of your rig. Easily install it within reach to make best use of the touchscreen display. It comes preloaded with adventure-specific content like iOverlander points of interest (POIs) and Ultimate Public Campgrounds, making it easier to find new places to camp, hunt or fish without any cell signal.

Combined with the Garmin Explore™ app, Overlander helps provide travelers with even more. Download the app to a compatible smartphone, and wirelessly sync memorable tracks, scenic routes or waypoints across the Overlander navigator, smartphone or desktop. With up to 64 GB of internal storage, use the app to download additional maps, such as U.S. satellite imagery, USGS quad sheets and more. There is also a microSD™ card slot should you want more storage. Use the track recorder function to record your tracks and save to your Garmin Explore account to review later on any device, or share with friends.

“This is not a simple tablet housed in a rugged case. The Garmin Overlander was purpose-built to endure the rugged and remote lifestyle of life off the grid.”

The tough and dependable Overlander was designed to withstand the elements during your travels where trails and roads are nearly inaccessible. Pair it with your Garmin inReach Explorer®+, inReach SE®+ and inReach® Mini satellite communicators (sold separately; requires an active satellite subscription) for two-way messaging, interactive SOS and weather forecasts. Also, Overlander pairs with the Garmin BC™ 35 wireless backup camera (sold separately) to easily see behind your rig when reversing.

Available now, the Garmin Overlander has a suggested retail price of $699.99. To learn more, visit garmin.com/overlander for additional details.
