Well, look no further because Icon Vehicle Dynamics has come out and built exactly that with its brand-new 2022 Toyota Tundra in Metallic Grey that really gives a sparkle to the paint even when in the dust and dirt. We took this rig out to beautiful Johnson Valley, California—home to King of the Hammers, the largest off-road race and toughest single-day off-road race in America. We were excited to put this Tundra to the test! Starting off the day, we headed down into the sandy shaded washes to get some sweet shots and bask in the surrounding beauty. We started with the front end by first capturing the AlphaRex headlights and custom one-off Icon Vehicle Dynamics bumpers that fit snugly against the front and rear FiberwerX fenders. The front of the Tundra is lifted 6 inches and the rear 3 inches to give it the perfect stance. KC HiLiTES LEDs provide illumination assistance all around from the front rack, the grille, and practically everywhere else on the truck. You will also find a Magnuson supercharger, intercooler, and heat exchanger, and even a tune from Magnuson to ensure this rig delivers maximum performance and reliability at all times. With all of this pushing this truck forward, you sometimes have to bring the party and energy to a proper slowdown. This Tundra has no problem with that, as it is equipped with a full Wilwood caliper and rotor setup in the front and rear to bring it to a prompt halt whenever necessary. This Tundra has the necessary stopping power, and it has the impressive go power. But when you’re off-road and you want to be able to open it up, you can’t just use any type of suspension to do so—especially not with stock equipment! That is why Icon Vehicle Dynamics specializes in this type of work and equipped its Tundra with none other than its Long Travel Prototype Kit with Icon springs all around, an Icon 3.0 CDEV coilover and 3.0 CDEV Icon bypass at the front, as well as a 3.5 Icon CDEV bypass in the rear! To help around sharp corners and keep this suspension settled, you can find an Icon custom-splined front sway bar, which delivers that cherry-on-top feeling. Nitto Trail Grappler tires in 38×11.50R18 are the choice that the Icon Vehicle Dynamics team ended up going with. This classic sense of rubber is wrapped tightly around a set of Icon Alloys Recon Pro Wheels, which feature 25 mm backspacing to push them a little wider to give the big Wilwood brakes ample breathing room. Now that we have gone over the exterior details, let’s open the door and jump inside! The first thing you notice is the Katzkin black upholstery on the factory seats, which was expertly completed by Stitchcraft Interiors in Westminster, California. After sitting comfortably in the driver’s seat, you will find a Switch-Pros switch panel at your side and an upgraded Dasaita 14-inch monitor sitting pretty right in the center of the dash. Underneath your feet is a nice set of WeatherTech floor mats, and for communication inside and outside of this rig, you’ll find a Rugged Radios System. You’ll also discover something interesting inside of the bed, which is taking over the truck and off-road industry. The new Decked full drawer system helps store anything and everything without the worry of someone stealing it right out of the back of the truck, which offers invaluable peace of mind. We thank the team over at Icon for letting us bring this beautiful build to light with its top-notch parts and equipment for the newer generation Tundra. We are excited to see what else Icon comes up with in the future! Until then, tread on!
