Luminoodle: Light on a String

Power Practical has been the go-to source for auxiliary power sources for a few years now in the outdoor and adventure market. One of their newer products which has made its way to the top of our list is their super compact Loominoodle.

The Loominoodle is a flexible, IP-67 waterproof LED rope that can produce 180 lumens in the 5-foot version or 360 lumens in the 10-foot version, and is powered off of a USB source. What that means for you is that it can go pretty much everywhere with you without worry, and be powered from anything that has an USB outlet. Power consumption is low at 2.5W (.5 amp) and 5W (1 amp) respectively. The Loominoodle ships with a translucent white bag that can double as a lantern case for the rope, and the rope has sliding magnets for attaching itself to anything ferrous. Also included in the kit are ribbed universal ties for stringing the rope on things like tree branches or handles or whatever you need it to stick to, that is not magnetic.

The Loominoodle starts at $19.99 for the 5-foot model and $29.99 for the 10. We chose the 5-foot model for being ultra-compact and that it comes paired with the ultra-compact Power Practical 4400 Lithium battery pack. We love this little light setup, and it has saved our bacon on more than one occasion.
