Cut the Cord: Midland MXT295 PRO Brings Wireless Freedom to Off-Road Adventures

For off-roaders, communication shouldn’t be tied to the driver’s seat. Whether spotting through an obstacle, scouting the trail ahead, setting up camp, or coordinating a recovery, there are plenty of moments when drivers and passengers need to step outside the vehicle while staying connected. The Midland® MXT295 PRO 15-Watt MicroMobile® GMRS Two-Way Radio is designed around that reality. Leading the next generation of MicroMobile communication is Midland’s first Fully-Integrated Wireless Bluetooth® Microphone, giving you the freedom to communicate without being tethered to the radio’s base unit. With Bluetooth connectivity up to 100 feet from the radio unit, the wireless microphone can go where the user goes. Instead of reaching through an open window for a traditional wired microphone or remaining within the cab to communicate, users can take the microphone with them as they move around the vehicle. The wireless microphone also helps solve another familiar challenge for off-road builds: an increasingly crowded dash. Navigation devices, switch panels, phones, cameras, and other accessories all compete for space inside the vehicle.

The MXT295 PRO pairs its wireless microphone with a hideaway base unit, allowing the main radio unit to be mounted out of the way rather than occupying valuable space on the dash. With no microphone cable running across the cockpit, the result is a cleaner, more flexible installation. Installation is designed to be straightforward, too. A DC vehicle adapter provides plug-and-play power for users looking for a simple setup. For more permanent builds, the radio can be incorporated into a vehicle’s electrical system using an appropriate dedicated, fused accessory circuit. While wireless functionality and installation flexibility define the MXT295 PRO experience, the radio still delivers the GMRS performance you expect from a MicroMobile. Its 15 Watts of power provide significantly more power than traditional handheld radios, making it a strong option for vehicle-to-vehicle communication on the trail. Off-roading also puts equipment in environments where dust, dirt, and water are part of the experience.

The MXT295 PRO carries an IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating, adding protection for trips that take users off the grid. Automatic noise cancellation helps reduce unwanted background noise for clearer communication around engines, wind, tires, and other common sources of sound. The radio also includes repeater capability, 28 pre-programmed privacy codes, PA functionality, and up to 99 channels, providing additional flexibility for different communication needs. Bluetooth functionality extends beyond the included wireless microphone as well. The MXT295 PRO works with most compatible Bluetooth headsets and accessories giving users more ways to build a communication setup around their vehicle and needs. For off-roaders, the biggest change isn’t simply more features. It’s more freedom in how a mobile GMRS two-way radio can be used and installed. By combining a Fully-Integrated Wireless Bluetooth® Microphone with a hideaway base unit, the MXT295 PRO lets users free up the dash, leave the cab, and keep communication close at hand. The next generation of MicroMobile is no longer tied down by a microphone cord.
