Yearning for the Great Outdoors in Reesor's Tacoma
Curt Reesor yearns for the great outdoors; he loves exploring remote backcountry with his family. They camp near breathtaking landscapes and enjoy the life of solitude together. “For me, the Toyota Tacoma is the classic overland rig,” Reesor stated. “It’s reliable and capable, both on and off the pavement. I’ve spent most of my life living in California and Oregon, two states I know well and have enjoyed very much,” he said. “My Toyota is key to getting out beyond the crowds.”
Hey, overlanders: remember when we featured the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform last month? Well, this month, we’re going to talk about the next evolution in roof top storage – the Backbone of any overland system. When it comes to roof top storage, we want solutions that work for us. It’s not about “making it work,” but rather investing in gear and accessories that actually make travel packing easier and more efficient. The product that makes that happen? The Rhino Rack Backbone.
Learning how to use a traditional compass and map to find your way is as paramount as knowing how to change a tire or liberate a stuck Jeep. When important systems fail, you must have a backup. And the most reliable backup for a navigation system is a quality paper map of the area and a traditional compass.
Customization is key when trying to stand out from the crowd. Whether you own a Toyota 4Runner, Tacoma, or Tundra, there is a surplus of accessories made available for your rig. These aftermarket goodies not only help your truck look the part, but also perform on the trail. No matter how you choose your time with your truck, there is something for everyone to add their own personal touch as they commute to work, travel on road trips, or explore off road.
Nick Scheibel purchased this vintage 1984 Toyota Sunrader “factory 4×4” freedom vessel camper in 2020 from a gentleman named C.J. who was just down the coastline from Massachusetts in New Jersey. C.J. didn’t want to sell the Sunrader to just anybody with cash, as he had owned the Toyota for several years. He was happy to pass ownership onto Nick, knowing that he’d take care of the Sunrader and eventually put it back on the path to restoration.
